The Grand Valley State men's and women's tennis team traveled to face the University of Illinois-Chicago in a dual match Friday, October 1
st. The men's team captured a 5-2 win to start the season off 1-0, while the women lost 7-0.

The men's swept the doubles side.
Josep Canyadell and
Sean Miller posted a 6-2 from the No. 1 spot, while
Freddy Cossio and
Tomas Oliveira won 7-5 from the No. 3 spot.
Sebastian Arce and
Martin Matov won their match 7-6, winning the tiebreaker 7-5 from the No. 2 spot.

On the singles side, Arce won in three sets at the No. 2 spot; 5-7, 6-1, 6-1.
Jack Dausman claimed a win in straight sets from the No. 4 spot; 7-5, 6-2. At the No. 5 spot,
Freddy Cossio posted a win in three sets by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Also on the singles side,
Ignacio Morera-Lucas won in straight sets; 6-2, 6-0.Â

Estefania Hernandez and
Vasileia Griva posted a 7-5 win in the No. 3 doubles position.Â

The men's team will host Cornerstone next week Friday, October 8
th at 6 PM. The women's team will travel to Valparaiso in two weeks on Saturday, October 16
th.
