KENOSHA, Wis. – The Grand Valley State women's basketball team will continue play on Friday (Jan. 22) as they travel to Parkside to play a pair of games in The Badger State. Both Friday and Saturday's game will tip off at 4:00 PM ET.

The Lakers are coming off a huge weekend as they swept Ashland, which ended multiple long win streaks for the Eagles including; 33-game win streak, 25-game conference win streak, and 22-game road win streak. Sunday's 70-67 win also gave Ashland their first back-to-back losses since the 2014-15 season. GVSU moved up to #5 in the D2SIDA Top-25 poll.

In the two of wins over Ashland, seven different Lakers scored in double-figures including freshman Hadley Miller and Rylie Bisballe off the bench. Through four games, the scoring has been well balanced for GVSU with just two players averaging in double-figures (Spitzley and Kulas), but six players averaging at least seven points a game. On the defensive side of the ball, Kulas currently ranks second in the nation in steals per game (4.0).

Parkside will enter Friday's contest with a 1-3 record, however, all three of their losses have come by three points or less. During the opening weekend, the Rangers dropped both contests to Northern Michigan by scores of 77-74 and 77-76 before splitting with Ferris State last weekend, winning the first game 86-82 and falling 91-89 in game two. Parkside currently leads the GLIAC in scoring offense with 81.3 points per game with guard Alyssa Nelson leading the team at 18.8 points per game and shooting 41.9% from deep. The entire Parkside starting five averages in double-figures.

The Lakers have not lost to Parkside since they have joined the GLIAC in 2018. GVSU scored a season-high 109 points in the 39-point victory at home last season before cruising to an 82-49 win in the second matchup at Wisconsin. Parkside went on to earn the four seed in the GLIAC Tournament with a 12-8 conference record and dropped their semifinal contest with Ashland.
