No. 22 Lakers run away from Concordia-St. Paul, 17-4, for senior day win Friday

Carly Shisler nets seven goals to lead Lakers to seventh straight win

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 22 Grand Valley State Lakers used a dominant second half to run away from the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears, 17-4, Friday (April 26) night at the GVSU Lacrosse Stadium. The Lakers win their seventh straight game to close out the regular season with a 13-3 record and 10-1 mark in GLIAC play to earn the two-seed in the upcoming GLIAC Tournament.

Senior Carly Shisler had a memorable final home game of her career, leading the Lakers with seven goals and a pair of assists while causing four turnovers and controlling four draws. Abbi O'Neal contributed three goals as well while Sophie Conroy had a pair of goals and two assists.

The Lakers scored the first three goals of the night before the Golden Bears answered with back-to-back tallies to get within one. After a seven-minute scoring drought, Conroy and Shisler would score in succession to reup the lead. GVSU would score five of the final six goals in the period to carry an 8-3 lead into halftime.

The Laker defense would dominate the second half, holding the Golden Bears to just three shots in the period and just a single goal while the Lakers forced a running clock for the final 15 minutes of action.

The Lakers' opponent and time for the GLIAC Semifinals, which will be hosted by the University of Indianapolis, are still to be determined. Stay connected with gvsulakers.com and @GVSUWLAX on social media for updates as they become available.
