No. 22 GVSU downs Ashland, 20-7, Friday night

GVSu starts GLIAC play 3-0 after another convincing win

ASHLAND, Ohio – The No. 22 Grand Valley State Lakers won in a wire-to-wire, 20-7, over the Ashland Eagles in the first-ever meeting between the two now-conference foes. The Lakers have now won three straight games and sit at 6-2 on the year and 3-0 in GLIAC play. The Eagles are now 2-4 on the year and 1-2 in the league.
 
Carly Shisler scored a season-high six goals and added two assists and seven draw controls while both Sarah Stagaard and Abbi O'Neal scored four goals. O'Neal also dished three assists. Kelley Fitzgerald dished four assists and the Lakers caused nine turnovers as a team.
 
The Lakers scored the first five goals of the night. Sarah Stagaard scored a pair and O'Neal, Fitzgerald and Shisler all contributed tallies for the early lead. The Lakers would lead 10-4 at half and continue to keep the Eagles at arm's length the rest of the second half.
