The #3 Lakers cruise to 74-46 win over Purdue Northwest; Boensch records third straight double-double

Boensch and DeBoer each recorded double-doubles in the win over PNW

The #3 Grand Valley State women's basketball team earned a 74-46 victory over Purdue Northwest in GLIAC play on Saturday afternoon at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers improve to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play after the win. 

Cassidy Boensch recorded her third straight double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds, while senior guard Jenn DeBoer also had a double-double, the first of her career, with 10 points and 12 assists. Senior forward Maddie Dailey finished in double-figures with 14 points.

GVSU led 18-8 after the 1st quarter of play and built their lead to 41-17 by the halftime break. 

The Lakers jumped out to an 11-2 lead halfway through the first quarter as Boensch scored seven of her 27 points in the first five minutes of the contest. Purdue Northwest would trim the deficit to 14-8 before Boensch and Dailey scored in the final minute of the quarter to increase the GVSU lead to 10 points. 

GVSU would hold PNW without a point for the first four minutes of the second quarter while scoring 10 points to bring the Laker lead to 28-8. 

The Lakers would build their largest lead of the game at 70-32 on a Maddie Dailey jumpshot with 5:44 remaining in the fourth quarter.

GVSU will be back in action next Saturday (Dec.14) at Davenport at 1:00 PM.
