Cassidy Boensch was named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division Player of the Week, per a release from the league office on Monday (Dec. 2). The #3 ranked Lakers defeated Central State 80-54 in their only game last week to improve to 6-0.

Boensch posted her third double-double of the season with a 21-point 11 rebound performance vs. Central State (OH) last Wednesday (Nov. 27). The Au. Gres, Mich. native also recorded four block shots and currently ranks fourth in the country in block shots per game (3.8), while the team leads the nation in block shots per game (8.0). Boensch, the Preseason All-GLIAC Player of the Year, is currently averaging 17.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

GVSU will begin GLIAC play on Thursday, Dec. 5 at home against Parkside (90s Night), followed by another home game on Saturday, Dec. 7 against Purdue Northwest.
