Box Score The Grand Valley State women's tennis team recorded a dominant win over the Purdue Northwest Pride, 7-0, on Saturday in Hammond, Ind. The Lakers improve to an undefeated 4-0 record on the year.
For the first time this season, each Laker posted a win in the singles competition column.
Vera Griva (6-0, 6-1) led the Lakers from the No. 1 spot with
Taylor Barrett (6-3, 6-1) and
Marija Leko (6-0, 6-1) owning wins from the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively.
Marily Canellopoulos (3-6, 6-3, 10-3),
Liv Hanover (6-2, 6-2) and
Agata Szewczuk (6-4, 6-4) all showed a strong performance from spots four through six.
GVSU continued to dominate the Pride from the doubles competition as well. Canellopoulos and Griva took down their opponents from the No. 1 spot, 7-5. Leko and Barrett (6-3) and Hanover and Szewczuk (6-2) teamed up to round out GVSU's shut out of Purdue Northwest.
The Lakers host the Davenport Panthers on Sunday (Oct. 6) at 10 a.m. in hopes of keeping their undefeated season alive.
