MIDLAND, Mich. – The No. 2 seed Grand Valley State women's tennis team competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships on Friday, Oct. 25 at 6:45 p.m. against No. 7 seed Ashland. This year's championships are held in Midland, Mich at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.
In their last regular season match on Sunday (Oct. 20), the Lakers compiled a road win against the Ashland Eagles, 6-1. GVSU enters the championships boasting a record of eight wins and one loss, with their lone loss coming from Wayne State, 5-2.
Leading the Lakers in singles play is sophomore
Vera Griva with an impressive 11-2 record from No. 1 singles action. Overall, GVSU posts a team 47-22 singles play record. In doubles matches, the team has a combined record of 26 wins and 10 losses, with the duo of Griva and
Marily Canellopoulos accounting for nine wins.
Ashland holds an even 8-8 record overall, with three wins and six losses in conference play. GVSU will play No. 3 Michigan Tech or No. 6 Saginaw Valley State on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 3:45 p.m.
