The Grand Valley State baseball team scored early and then late in a 20-12 GLIAC road win Monday afternoon. GVSU will host GMAC foe Hillsdale College Tuesday at the GVSU Baseball Field beginning at 3 p.m. The Lakers improved to 18-13 overall and 7-5 in GLIAC action, while Davenport falls to 17-13 and 7-5.
The Lakers opened the scoring with four runs on four hits and a Panther error in the top of the first. RF

Austin LaDoux plated a run with a single up the middle and 2B
Josh C. Smith drove in a pair with a triple to right. GVSU added two more runs on two hits and two walks in the second to take a 6-1 lead. Gleason drove in a run with a sac fly and CF
Nolan Anspaugh, who reached via a walk, scored on a wild pitch.
Leading 6-2, Gleason opened the fourth with a hit by pitch, followed by a single from 1B
Ryan Blake-Jones. LaDoux walked to load the bases and GLIAC scored on a
Chase Carpenter groundout. Smith drove in Blake-Jones with a sac fly and 3B
Ricky Clark doubled in LaDoux. The Lakers broke the game open with four runs on four hits in the sixth. Blake-Jones scored when Clark was hit by a pitch and LaDoux scored on a wild pitch. SS
Christian Faust drove in two with a single to center to up the Laker lead to 13-2.
LaDoux tripled to right center to plate Blake-Jones in the seventh and GVSU then added six runs on three hits in the top of the ninth to take a 20-2 lead. LaDoux collected his fifth hit of the day with a double to right center to score
Nate Chase who walked. Clark drove in LaDoux and Anspaugh collected an RBI when he was hit by a pitch. LF
Zach Berry drove in a pair with a single to center and
Drake Ellens drove in the final run with a groundout to third.
Tate Brawley picked up the win and improved to 3-1 on the year with a quality start. Brawley yielded two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts in seven innings of work.
LaDoux was 5-for-5 with three RBI and four runs scored, while Blake-Jones was 5-for-5 with four runs scored. Smith was 1-for-2 with three RBI and Clark was 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Berry, Gleason and Faust each drove in a pair of runs.
