ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 13 Grand Valley State Lakers celebrated their seniors before Sunday's (April 22) matchup and kept the party going all afternoon in a convincing 21-4 win over the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action at the GVSU Lacrosse Stadium. With the victory, the Lakers improve to 12-4 overall and 10-1 in the GLIAC and clinch at least a share of the conference regular season championship for the sixth consecutive season.
For the second straight match, the Lakers forced a running clock in the first half that would never stop. Nine different Lakers scored in the contest, including six seniors.
Erika Neumen led the Laker attack with six goals while
Ashley Bailey recorded three goals and seven assists for a game-high 10 points. As a team, the Lakers outshot the Golden Bears, 49-11, and also dominated ground balls (10-5) and draw controls (19-7).
The Lakers scored the first nine goals of the day, not conceding until 20 minutes into the contest. They would respond with four more first-half goals to take a 13-1 lead into halftime. GVSU would keep the pressure up in the second half as they coasted to victory.
