INDIANAPOLIS – Grand Valley State shook off their first conference loss of the season in convincing fashion with a 20-8 win over Indianapolis at Key Stadium. The win pushes the Lakers, ranked 11
th in the country in the IWLCA coaches poll and sixth in the North Region in the NCAA Division II regional rankings, to 9-4 overall and 7-1 in the GLIAC.

After a weather delay pushed the start time back an hour and change, the game started off with the Greyhounds (6-9, 4-6 GLIAC) scoring the first goal of the evening 51 seconds into the contest. Neumen's first goal of the contest off a pass from Dosenberry notteed the game up one minute later, but UIndy regained the lead at 20:42.
GV would retake the lead with a run of five consecutive goals and they would never relinquish it to the first-year program. Two goals from Tunnell, along with a pair of free-position goals by Neumen and Datema, and a strike by
Kelley Fitzgerald from Skomial made it 6-2 after 13:48 in the first half.
Indianapolis would score after 10 minutes without a point to make it a three-point game, but goals from
Carolyn Kraus at 9:04 and
Ashley Bailey at 4:30 put their lead to five goals. UIndy snuck one past DeMilia to make it 8-4 with 1:21 on the clock, but Neumen's hat-trick goal with 59 seconds on the clock gave GV a five-goal cushion entering halftime.
The Greyhounds scored the first goal of the half after just 22 seconds melted off the clock to make it a four-goal deficit for the hosts, but Neumen's fourth and Datema's second goals of the game put the Lakers up by six after less than four minutes into the second half of play.
Indianapolis put one back at 26:08 before GVSU put their opponents away with a string of six unanswered goals in a span of five minutes, giving them a 17-6 lead with 20 minutes still to play in the game. During the run, Datema and Tunnell both completed their hat-tricks, while Dosenberry scored both of her goals on the afternoon, Bailey tallied her second goal, and
Katie Tomlinson bagged her first goal of the contest.
The Greyhounds put an end to their scoreless run with a goal at 13:59 of the half, but GV ripped three shots into the back of the net to make it a 20-7 lead over their GLIAC foes. Skomial and
Chelsey Bishop tallied their first goals of the contest at 9:19 and 7:26, and Kraus fired her second score of the day with 5:00 left on the clock. UIndy scored the game's final tally with 1:30 to go in the ball game.
GVSU came away from today's game with an advantage in every statistical category. The Lakers limited Indianapolis to just 13 shots while taking 35 themselves, while also winning in ground balls (26-14), draw controls (16-14) and in turnovers (20-29). The Lakers also limited the Greyhouns to just 10 successful clears out of 24 attempts while going 13-14 on clears themselves.
