Grand Valley State track & field competed across the country this past weekend and scored double-digit NCAA qualifying times and standards in the process at meets on both the East and West coasts.

Competing at meets in California, Kentucky, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, GVSU had a total of 35 NCAA qualifying marks and standards met over here days and at six meets. GVSU athletes hit two automatic marks and 33 provisional marks to move them up in the NCAA outdoor qualifying lists for their respective events.

At the two-day Mt. SAC Relays in Norwalk, Calif., nine combined men's and women's runners hit qualifying times.
Kendra Foley scored the automatic qualifying time for GV in the 5000m Elite race by crossing the finish line at 16:17.24 to give her the third-best time in Division II and the top time in the GLIAC. Foley also earned a provisional time in the 1500m at the Long Beach State Beach Invite with a time of 4:30.80, placing her the 21st-best time in Division II and the fourth-best time in the conference.

GVSU also had four men and four women hit provisional times at the Mt. SAC Relays. On the men's side,
Bryce Bradley finished with a time of 14:00.89 in the 5000m Elite race to give him the seventh-best time in Division II, while
Zach Panning ran a 14:08.85 time in the 5000m Open to put him 12th in the country, and
Chris May finished the 10k Invite Elite in 29:44.05 to put him 15th in the country in the event.

On the women's side of the Mt. SAC Relays,
Gina Patterson and
Amy Cymerman both earned provisional times in the 5000m Elite race, with Patterson finishing at 16:25.49 to earn the sixth-best time in DII and Cymerman running a 16:42.78 to place 13th in the country.Â
Jordan Chester ran in the 3000m steeplechase and scored the 14th-best time in the country with a time of 10:45.90, and
Jessica Janecke crossed the finish line in the 5000m Open with a time of 16:58.23 to earn the 20th-best time in the country. Chester also scored a provisional time in the 1500m at the Long Beach State Beach Invite, finishing with a time of 4:33.89 to give her the 31st-best time in the country.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., There were a total of three Lakers to earn NCAA provisional times. On the men's side,
Ethan Barnes scored a qualifying time in the 800m and
Ricky Perez earned one in the 1500m. Barnes earned the ninth-best time in Division II with a 1:50.20 finish, and Perez finished in 3:50.60 to receive the 31st-best time.
Amy Creutz scored the 16th-best time in the nation with a time of 4:30.32 in the 1500m.

Grand Valley State had 10 individual athletes and one relay team earn qualifying times and standards at the Oaklane Golden Grizzlies Invitational.
Chris Saikalis nabbed the automatic qualifier in the shot put with a mark of 18.55m (60' 10.5''), giving the junior the third best mark in the country and the second-best mark in the GLIAC.

Four Laker men earned provisional marks and times in the field events.
Hunter Weeks hit a mark of 2.11m (6' 11'') in the pole vault to tie him for third-best in the country and the top vault in the conference.
Darien Thornton hit a provisional mark in the hammer throw by hitting 64.19m (210' 7'') to finish with the No. 3 distance in the country and the No. 4 distance in the GLIAC.
Brandon Bean vaulted 2.06m (6' 9'') in the pole vault to place him tied for 19th in the nation.

GV had four individuals and one relay team secure provisional qualifying times at the Golden Grizzlies Invite.
Angela Ritter ran in the 400m and finished with a time of 54.60 to place her ninth in the country. In the 100m hurdles,
Tiara Wiggins finished with the 30th-best time in DII with a time of 14.30. In the 400m hurdles,
Eskolunbe Puente finished with the 11th-best national finish with a time of 1:01.10 while
Jessica O'Connell finished with a time of 1:01.39 for the 18th-best time in the country. The relay team of
Beatriz Indurain,
Alexis Duncan,
Sarah Beulla, and Ritter finished the 4x100m relay with a provisional time of 46.87, placing them 24th in Division II.

In Pennsylvania at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic, a combined six athletes tallied provisional qualifying times. The Laker men had four runners taking home provisional times in the 5000m and the 10k.
Kevin Black nabbed the time in the 5000m with a finish of 14:36.02 to earn the 35th-best time in the country. In the 10k,
Nate Orndorf secured the 13
th-best time (29:38.89),
Chad Cini the 27
th-best (30:15.88), and
Sam Butler the 50
th-best (30:57.57).

Grand Valley State hosts their first outdoor meet of the season when they welcome teams from across the country for the annual
Al Owens Classic. The two-day event will take place on Friday (Apr. 22) and Saturday (Apr. 23) at the GVSU Track & Field Stadium.
