The Grand Valley State men's basketball team captured a 91-36 non-conference victory over Great Lakes Christian College Wednesday night before a crowd of 1,210 at the GVSU Arena. The Lakers improve to 1-2 on the season and will host Trinity Christian on Friday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m.
Great Lakes Christian came out launching from the opening tip and took a 7-0 lead on a three-pointer by Joey Steiner and back-to-back jumpers by Amari Jones. Sophomore
Zach West got the Lakers on the board with a three-pointer that started a 10-0 run. GLC hit another three-pointer to tie the game at 10-10, but that would be as close as they would get for the remainder of the game.

Drake Baar hit a jumper in the paint, followed by back-to-back three-pointers by senior guard
Juwan Starks that started a 20-0 run. Sophomore center
Justin Greason scored after gathering in an offensive rebound and Starks hit a baseline jumper to give GVSU a 22-10 lead. Greason added four more points, West hit another three-pointer and senior forward
Luke Ryskamp scored in the paint. Leading 30-11, West hit a pair of three-pointers and Baar scored six points to give GVSU a 42-11 lead after 20 minutes of action.
GVSU outscored Great Lakes Christian 31-8 in the opening 10 minutes of the second half to build a 73-19 lead. Senior forward

Myles Miller five in the initial second half scoring surge.
The Lakers outscored GLC 36-6 in the paint, held a 32-9 advantage off turnovers and the GVSU bench outscored the Great Lakes Christian bench 42-3. GVSU converted 35-of-63 shots from the floor (55.6%) and 11-of-23 from three-point land (47.8%), while dishing out 22 assists. In addition, Grand Valley State blocked seven shots and notched 12 steals.
West led GVSU with a career-high 14 points, hitting all five of his shots, including four three-point attempts. Baar recorded career-highs in both points (12) and rebounds (8), while Greason chipped in 11 points. Ryskamp and Starks each contributed 10 points.
