It was a day where the number 100 figured prominently in Laker football history. Number one ranked Grand Valley State claimed its second straight GLIAC title Saturday at Lubbers Stadium with a 63-19 victory over 19th-ranked Findlay. With the win, Grand Valley State has won 26 staight regular season games and 24 consecutive GLIAC games.
GVSU opened the scoring at the 8:39 mark of the first quarter when Harlon Hill candidate Curt Anes connected with WR Terrance Banks from 20 yards out. RB Reggie Spearmon put GVSU up 14-0 with a 16-yard TD run midway through the first quarter. Anes then connected with WR David Kircus with the first of four TDs between to duo to put the Lakers on top 21-0. Kircus hauled in a 45 yard TD reception early in the second quarter to put GVSU on top 28-0 and FS Scott Mackey recorded the longest fumble return for a TD (95 yards) in Laker football history to give GVSU a 35-0 lead with 12:04 left in the second quarter. Findlay got on the board as QB Jeff Fraser hit WR Andy Witker with a nine-yard TD pass. Grand Valley State responded quickly as Anes and Kircus connected for the third time with a 13-yard TD. RB Robert Campbell scored on a 34-yard TD scamper before Kircus hauled in his fourth TD catch of the first half, this covering 13 yards. Anes' final TD pass of the half was the 100th of his career, while Kircus' TD catch was his 64th TD reception in his career.
GVSU opened the second half with an eight-play, 59-yard drive that was culminated when RB Brent Lesniak scored from 11 yards out. Findlay RB Jeremy Smith scored on a 48 yard TD to close the scoring for Findlay. GV freshman QB Jeff Dock connected with sophomore TE Jeremy Cochrane with an 11 yard TD pass to conclude the scoring with 12:25 left in the game.
A balanced GV attack notched 326 yards passing and 324 yards rushing for a season-high 650 yards of total offense. RB Reggie Spearmon rushed for 156 yards and one TD on 20 carries. Freshman Brandon Langston added 78 yards on 11 carries, while Lesniak chipped in 52 yards and one TD on five carries. Anes completed 17-of-20 passes for 252 yards and five TDs in just over two quarters of action. Senior WR Terrance Banks set the GVSU single-season record with eight catches for 105 yards and one TD. Banks' eight receptions gave him 64 in 10 games this season. All-American David Kircus hauled in five catches for 103 yards, four of which were TDs.

Saturday's 63-19 win over Findlay was the 100th victory for Grand Valley State in Lubbers Stadium...Brian Kelly won his 100th game as Grand Valley State's head coach...David Kircus tied the NCAA Division II record with his 20th straight game with a TD catch. Kircus' streak is the longest active streak in college football...RB Reggie Spearmon's 1,145 yards rushing yards is the third-best single-season total in GVSU history.
Grand Valley State will await the NCAA Championship announcement Sunday for their first round opponent.
