Dustin Smith

Dustin Smith begins his first season as an assistant with the Lakers in 2019 after nine seasons at Florida Tech, a Division II program in the Sunshine State Conference. He served his final four seasons as head coach after five in an assistant role. As a head coach, he led the Panthers to a 30-19-5 overall record and the first conference championship in school history in 2017. His Panthers would rank as high as No. 8 in the nation as they earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

As the assistant at Florida Tech, Smith helped the Panthers to three NCAA Tournaments, including a run to the Final Four in 2010. During his tenure in Florida, Smith has also held head coaching positions with various youth soccer clubs. Prior to reaching the Sunshine State, Smith spent two seasons as an assistant at Coastal Carolina University.

He would also play for the local Myrtle Beach Sea Dawgs of the U.S.S.L. during that time after completing his four-year collegiate playing career at Charleston Southern in 1998, where he was an All-Conference honoree to help the Buccaneers to an NCAA Tournament appearance.
