Katie Chipman complete her second year as an assistant coach for the Lakers during the 2024-25 campaign. A former letterwinner for Grand Valley, Chipman was one of the most decorated golfers in program history.
In her second season as an assistant for the Lakers, Chipman helped lead the Lakers to an East Regional title and a GLIAC Championship. Chipman coached six All-GLIAC golfers, with four earning All-Region honors, and Olivia Stoll being named an All-American. The Lakers advanced to the National Championships, placing ninth.
The 2023-24 season saw the Lakers reclaim their status as the best team in the GLIAC, taking home the league crown. They took fourth at regionals, advancing to the National Championships.
A four-time All-American during her time in Allendale, Chipman won 13 tournaments, including three straight GLIAC Championships to ended her career. She was named the GLIAC Women's Golfer of the Year four times, as well as earning All-Region honors four times as well. Chipman holds the six lowest scores over 18 holes in Laker history, with a low of 66 (-6). She also was ranked as high as number two in the country, marking the best ranking for any individual in program history.
Upon graduation, Chipman continued her golfing career, and most recently won the Michigan Women's Amateur Championship this past August. She also played in Stage 1 of the LPGA Q-School in 2021.Â
Chipman grew up in Canton and played golf at Plymouth High School.
