Pete Romsek enters his second year on the Grand Valley State baseball staff as the recruiting coordinator and infield coach. Prior to being the first hire for head coach Jordan Keur, Romsek was an assistant coach at St. Xavier University.Â
Romsek was a key contributor to a Laker infield that earned three All-GLIAC honors and posted a .960 fielding percentage.
Romsek most recently completed his third season as an assistant coach at St. Xavier University (Chicago, Ill.), serving as the hitting coach, infield coach and recruiting coordinator. The 2023 Cougars captured the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament Championship and advanced to the NAIA World Series in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Four position players earned All-CCAC honors in 2023, including the Freshman of the Year and a Gold Glove Award honoree. The 2022 Cougar offense led the CCAC in every offensive category and ranked in the Top-25 in the NAIA in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits, doubles, triples, stolen bases, RBIs, and runs. SXU also had five hitters earn All-Conference honors in 2022, and one player moved on to play professionally. In 2021, St. Xavier had two hitters earn All-Conference honors and the conference Freshman of the Year, while the offense ranked No. 6 in the NAIA in stolen bases (147) and No. 11 in total doubles (119). The defense also ranked No. 2 in the NAIA in total assists (564) and one infielder earned a CCAC Gold Glove Award.
Romsek served as a graduate assistant baseball coach at Salem University (W.V.) where he received his MBA in Sports and Recreation Management. Romsek served as a graduate assistant coach during the 2020 season before being promoted to assistant coach/recruiting coordinator in July of 2020. While at Salem, he worked as the team's infield coach, assistant hitting coach, and 3rd base coach. Romsek has also had coaching stints as a head coach for the Lansing Loco's in the Lemonade Collegiate League in 2020, and as an assistant coach at Olivet College (Mich.) in 2019.
Peter received his bachelor's degree in business administration with a focus in entrepreneurial studies from Adrian College (Mich.) in 2018. Romsek was a middle infielder for the Bulldog's and won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship all four years at Adrian.
