LAKER FAN CODE OF CONDUCT

GVSU Athletics is committed to providing a safe and inclusive gameday experience for everyone in attendance. The following conduct is expected at all times in parking lots, green spaces, facilities and GVSU Athletics events.

  • Be respectful to other guests, game officials, student-athletes, and staff members at all times. Disruptive, threatening, discriminatory, derogatory, profane or unruly language or behavior will not be tolerated. This includes verbal, physical and sexual harassment/misconduct.
  • All language, behavior and signage must reflect positive sportsmanship and may not be discriminatory on the basis of ethnicity, race, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, ability or sexual orientation.
  • If you drink, drink responsibly and pace your drinking. Watch out for your friends and always designate a driver.
  • Be respectful to your fellow Lakers who are working on event day. They are there to provide a safe, fun-filled experience for everyone in attendance.
  • Help us maintain a fun, safe and secure experience for all. If you see something dangerous or disruptive, say something to a staff member.

• Laker fans are encouraged to wear blue and black to games and enthusiastically support the team, while exhibiting good sportsmanship.

In the spirit of sportsmanship, Laker fans shall:

• Conduct themselves in a manner that represents their university, the GLIAC, and the NCAA with honor, dignity, and respect 

• Not use vulgar, abusive racist, sexist, demeaning, or intimidating language at any time

• Support the players, coaches, and officials in a positive manner

• Treat the visiting team, coaches, and fans with courtesy and respect at all times

• Demonstrate the qualities of civility and sportsmanship at all times

• Not engage in cheers that are vulgar, crass, or demeaning

• Refrain from throwing objects onto the field for any reason

• Not become inebriated or belligerent

• Refrain from entering the playing field at anytime, including after the game

• Be a positive role model for those around them by treating other with courtesy and respect
