Primary Funds
Irwin Athletic Fund
The Irwin Fund was established in his honor upon his retirement from Grand Valley. It is the primary fundraising arm for intercollegiate athletics and its purpose is to provide financial support to the department.
GVSU Athletic Endowment
To enhance the level of operation of the GVSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics programs. The specific intent for this award is to enhance special travel, equipment, uniform, and student facilities needs.

Baseball Fund
Investment in the future of our student-athletes, the facilities and equipment they use, and the health of the programs they participate in.

Greg Cadaret Baseball Endowment
To enhance the level of operation of the GVSU varsity baseball program. The funds available will be used specifically for the varsity baseball program as recommended by the Director of Athletics and the head coach.

Laker Baseball Alumni Leadership Award
This scholarship was created to reward a member of the GVSU varsity baseball team who has taken on the additional responsibilities of leadership on or off the field by mentoring younger team members, being accessible to teammates who need advice, or doing what it takes to help teammates or the team reach its goals.

Tony Pfennig Baseball Commitment Award
In honor of Tony's determination, his parents, Debra and Michael R. Pfennig, established this award to recognize a player who demonstrates a commitment to hard work, practice, leadership, and team unity, leading to success on the field of play and in the classroom

Jacob C. Mol Athletic Scholarship Endowment
The purpose of this endowment is to annually award a scholarship that covers full-time tuition to a GVSU men's varsity basketball student-athlete. This is a renewable scholarship as long as the student meets GVSU, Conference, and NCAA academic requirements.

Sixth Man Society Fund
The Sixth Man Society Fund was established to enhance our basketball game day experience. The SIXTH MAN SOCIETY is an exclusive membership that includes benefits to enhance the Laker basketball programs. As a SIXTH MAN SOCIETY member you will get access to the Hall of Fame room which includes food, drink, beer/wine for all GLIAC games throughout the season.

Mike Lints Track & Field Equipment Endowment
Intended to provide off-budget equipment to enhance GVSU's track and field program, such as practice/competition equipment, meet management equipment, and uniforms.

Football Alumni Endowment Fund
Grand Valley State University and the Football Alumni Association established this endowment fund to provide perpetual financial support to the football program.

Women's Golf Fund
Investment in the future of our student-athletes, the facilities and equipment they use, and the health of the programs they participate in.

Carl & Delores Arendsen Golf Scholarship
To benefit deserving male and female members of the Laker golf teams. The scholarship can be used to help support an existing team member. However, a unique feature makes it possible to supply funding for degree completion for both men and women golf team members who have used up their eligibility and have not completed their degree due to demands placed on a university athlete.

Charles L. Toot Memorial Golf Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship will assist a current member of the Grand Valley State University Men's and Women's Golf Teams with the costs of completing their degree.

Men's and Women's Golf Indoor Practice Facility Enhancements
To provide the men's and women's varsity golf teams with an indoor practice facility that will include hitting bays and a chipping and putting surface.

Varsity Wrestling Fund
Gifts provide program support to restart varsity wrestling for both men and women. They will fund necessary equipment and help recruit and retain coaching staff and top athletes for the program.

Athletic Training Fund
Used for fundraising activities for the athletic training program; this fund helps purchase uniforms for student trainers who travel with and care for student-athletes

Student-athlete Study Abroad Scholarship
Supports student-athletes pursuing their first study abroad opportunity during spring/summer semester.

David Alan Bergsma Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was established in 1969 in memory of David Bergsma by his mother Ada Mary Bergsma. The David Alan Bergsma Scholarship is available to academically deserving student-athletes.

Joan Boand Athletic Scholarship Endowment
To assist a student-athlete who is in their fifth year of academic work and has exhausted their four years of eligibility. The recipient must be an excellent scholar and within a year of completing their degree work.

Boand & Rowe Endowment for Advancement of Women in Sport & Physical Activity
The Boand & Rowe Endowment for Advancement of Women in Sports & Physical Activity was created as part of a celebration of 40 years of Title IX, but more so as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done relevant to equity in sport and physical activity. Participation rates have increased under the direction of Title IX, but women continue to remain under-represented in leadership and power positions in sport and physical activity. The Boand-Rowe Endowment provides support for students with a passion for advancing girls and women in sport and physical activity as part of their academic journey at Grand Valley State University.

Hosford Family Excellence in Academics and Athletics Endowed Scholarship Fund

John and Barb Gracki Football Degree Completion Scholarship
To assist undergraduate students who have exhausted their athletic eligibility with degree completion.

Charles H. & Florence Irwin Scholarship Endowment
The Charles and Florence Irwin endowment provides scholarships to students who have excelled academically and athletically, but who would not be able to attend?GVSU without some financial assistance. This is renewable based on satisfactory academic progress and maintaining minimum GVSU, conference, and NCAA GPA requirements.

Todd Jager Memorial Award Endowment
This award will provide financial support to outstanding students with a graduate assistantship, pursuing a career in college athletic training. Recipients will demonstrate a commitment to athletic training and have a strong academic background.

Daniel P. '74 & Barbara A. Karpanty Laker Refueling Station Endowment
Help Grand Valley's athletes reach peak performance with nutritional support to aid in recovery and replenishment during and after workouts, practices, and competitions.

Don Lubbers Excellence in Athletics Facilities Fund
Gifts to this fund will help to provide immediate and available resources for renovations to athletic facilities, like the recent upgrades to the stadium.

Dick Nelson Memorial Broadcasting Scholarship
Richard Hodsdon Sr. - better recognized by his broadcasting name - Dick Nelson - was the "Voice of Laker Football' for 37 years and will be fondly remembered as an important part of Grand Valley's success in athletics and a special member of the Laker family. He and his wife Lori had a deep and special bond with Laker athletics and took tremendous pride in their association with the University. The scholarship will support students who are pursuing a career in sports broadcasting.

D. Scott & Susan Richardson Management Student-Athlete Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by Scott & Susan Richardson to reduce financial pressure on student-athletes and their families and make a Grand Valley education accessible to students from all backgrounds. Scott and Susan hope that this scholarship will assist those student-athletes with a declared major within the Seidman College of Business Department of Management in completing their degree while enjoying their passion for Laker Athletics.

The Schmidt/Workman Graduate Student-Athlete Endowed Fellowship
To assist former GVSU student-athletes with their graduate degree endeavors after their eligibility as a GVSU student-athlete is exhausted. This fellowship will ensure that financial need does not become a barrier in completing their graduate degree in a timely fashion.

Tim and Terry Selgo Student-Athlete Scholarship Endowment
This scholarship was established in honor of GVSU's Director of Athletics from 1996-2016 and his wife Terry and was created to assist student-athletes who have exhausted their athletic eligibility with undergraduate degree completion. Recipients shall have completed their athletic eligibility and must have been academically eligible to participate at the time of completion of their eligibility. This scholarship will be based on demonstrated financial need and the recipient must be Federal Pell Grant eligible. Recipients must have a FAFSA on file.

Donald & Barbara VanderJagt Mathematics & Athletic Scholarship
To award an individual who is majoring in mathematics and participating in intercollegiate athletics. This student must be committed to both and stay competitive in the classroom and on the playing field. A minimum GPA of 2.5 and at least sophomore standing is required.

Doug & Linda Woods Athletic Training Endowment
Honoring the Woods' for their dedication to GVSU, this endowment provides scholarships to students seeking Athletic Training certification.

Felix V. & Gladys A. Zukaitis Athletic Scholarship
To provide assistance to several students from various intercollegiate sports. Recipients are selected by a committee consisting of representatives from the Athletic Department and the Financial Aid Office. The scholarship is renewable provided a minimum GPA of 2.0 is maintained and the athlete continues to participate as a member of an intercollegiate sports team.

William "Bill" McDonald Jr. '78 Memorial Endowed Scholarship
To assist student-athletes and football players with the cost of their education, which includes summer coursework. room and board, and degree completion. 

Dr. Douglas Tubman Memorial Football Endowed Scholarship
Created in memory of Dr. Douglas Tubman by his son Behn Tubman '03. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to a member of the Laker Football Team who did not receive athletic scholarship/financial aid (walk-on), or other football athletes taking courses during the summer. Behn Tubman was a walk-on football player at GVSU. 

STUDENT ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMUNITY GIFTS
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will use this fund for events for the student-athlete community as well as a way to raise money for charity and community outreach in and around the West Michigan area.
