About the Irwin Club

The Irwin Club is named after Charles H. Irwin, the first Chairman of the Department of Physical Education and Athletic Director for GVSU. Its purpose is to provide moral and financial support for GVSU athletics. The Irwin Club is connected to every scholarship and endowment fund for intercollegiate athletics and is the primary fundraising arm for the department.

Mission

The purpose of the Irwin Club is to generate philanthropic support necessary to put each of our 20 sports - over 500 student-athletes - in a position to succeed academically and athletically. Your investment into Grand Valley State athletics helps support the scholarship needs of our student-athletes while allowing them to compete for GLIAC Championships and NCAA postseason play.

Please consider joining today. You may become a member with any donation, with support benefits beginning at $100 or more. Your annual support of the Irwin Club is vital to the growth and success of GVSU athletics. For more information regarding Irwin Club membership and benefits, please call 616-331-8700. Student-Athlete Enrichment

In order to help current student-athletes successfully transition to life post-graduation, we have identified a comprehensive approach that requires significant investment and will include the following components:

  • Academic Success Program
  • Leadership Development
  • Career Preparation
  • Health & Wellness
  • Travel Experiences

As a result of these programs, our student-athletes will leave our university with the tools they need to be successful in their lives, professions and societies.
