ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State men's golf team picked up their first win of the 2026-27 season, claiming victory at the Midwest/Central Regional Preview Tournament played at the Meadows. The Lakers overcame a three-stroke deficit heading into the final round to earn the win.

GVSU shot even par over the final round to win by seven strokes, finishing with a score of ten over par. Behind them was Central Oklahoma at +17, followed by Wayne State in third at +20. Washburn finished fourth with a score of +24, while Ashland took fifth at +26.
 
Leading the way for GVSU was sophomore Emil Olofsson. He shot a final round of 71 (E), making four birdies, to finish tied for fifth. Maverick Conaway was one shot back of him in a tie for seventh after carding a 71 with five birdies. Tied for 26^th was Nicolas Vincent, who shot a 70 (-1) with two birdies today to finish the tournament with a score of eight over. Ryan Gallagher made one birdie in his round of 78 (+7) to finish tied for 29^th. Finley Dober tied for 54^th at +13, shooting a final round of 72 (+1) with five birdies.
 
On the individual side, Jack Whitmore tied for 26^th at +8. The freshman shot a 76 (+5) today, making one birdie. Barry O'Connell tied for 29^th, carding a 75 (+4) today with one birdie. Louie Bloxham shot a 79 (+8) with one birdie to come in a tie for 47^th. Ian Masih sand four birdies across his round of 75 to finish tied for 70^th. In a tie for 90^th was Leandro Pinili, who shot an 85 today.

The Lakers will next play on September 28^th and 29^th at the Midwest Collegiate. The tournament will take place at the Rock Hollow Golf Club in Rock Hollow, Indiana.
