DETROIT, Mich. – The Grand Valley State softball team swept a GLIAC doubleheader at Wayne State Sunday (Apr. 26) afternoon. The Lakers improve to 25-21 on the season and 15-9 in the GLIAC after winning both games 3-2 with game one being in eight innings.
In game one, GVSU scored the first run of the game in the third inning. With two outs,
Eliana Eiland launched a double to left center that scored
Jasmine Mauk to score from first. Wayne State would answer in the bottom half of the third inning with two solo home runs to take a 2-1 lead. The Lakers would tie the game at two in the fourth inning off an RBI double by
Allyson Theunick to score
Kylee Hoebeke. Both teams would be held scoreless over the final three innings to send the game into extra's. In the eighth inning,
Grace Usher singled up the middle to score
Carsyn Segorski from second to give GVSU a 3-2 lead.
Karli Dorr would retire the Warriors in order to secure the game one win.
GVSU recorded seven hits from seven different players.

Jasmine Mauk each notched a double.
Camryn Hall walked two times, while
Grace Usher drove in the game winning run.
Karli Dorr got the start in the circle and earned her 10
th win of the season after tossing all eight innings allowing two runs off eight hits with four strikeouts.
In game two, GVSU opened the game with two runs in the first inning.
Grace Usher got the scoring started with a single through the right side that scored
Camryn Hall. Next batter,
Kylee Hoebeke hit a sacrifice fly to right field to make it 2-0 to score
Eliana Eiland from third. The Lakers would make it 3-0 in the third inning off the bat of Hoebeke would hit a single to left field to score
Elizabeth Wesoloski from second. Wayne State would score to make it a 3-1 game in the bottom half of the third on a triple to right field. The Warriors made it a one-run game in the fifth inning with a solo home run to left field. GVSU would keep the Warriors off the scoreboard in the final two innings to secure the doubleheader sweep.
GVSU notched six hits all from different players. Hoebeke drove in two runs, while Hall and Eiland each recorded a hit and run scored.
Nevaeh Ingram got the start in the circle and earned the win after tossing all seven innings allowing two runs with two strikeouts.
