AUGUSTA, MICH. – For the 10
th time in program history, the Grand Valley State men's golf team claimed a GLIAC title. The Lakers dominated the three rounds of stroke play to advance to the medal match play championship, where they defeated Davenport 5-0. Individually,
Bryce Wheeler and
Ryan Gallagher were co-medalists.

Grand Valley State ended stroke play at -37, shooting a final round of 273. Davenport was second at -3 to also advance to the championship match. Ferris State and Wayne State tied for third, with SVSU in fifth.
Bryce Wheeler and
Ryan Gallagher tied for first at -10. Gallagher shot a final round of 66 (-5) with six birdies, while Wheeler mad four birdies in his round of 69 (-2).
Manuel Cue Vargas ended in third at -8 after shooting an even par 71 with three birdies.
Charlie Cooley was one spot back of him in fourth at -6. The senior shot a 68 (-3) with five birdies. Making four birdies in his final round of 70 (-1) was
Andrew Gwilliams who finished in a tie for 7
th at three under.
During the medal match play, GVSU shot a program record 264, winning all five matches by four or more strokes. Wheeler won by 10 strokes and Gwilliams claimed his match by eight strokes. Both Cue and Gallagher won by five shots, and Cooley won his match by four strokes.
The Lakers are off until May 7
th when they will take part in the NCAA Midwest/Central Superregional in Big Rapids.
