Men's Track & Field Named National Runner-Up, Women Place Sixth at 2026 NCAA DII Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – After two days of competition, Grand Valley State's men's track and field was named National Runner-Up at the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships with a team score of 51 points. The women placed sixth with 24.5 points.

Joshua Page was the first Laker to find the podium for GVSU. With 200m splits at 21.73 and 24.25, the Tiffin transfer finished second overall with a 400m finish at 45.97. His National Runner-Up title earned his team eight more points.
 
Sam Allen was the next Laker to place, finishing sixth in the men's 800m at 1:49.97. His finish added three points to the men's team score.
 
One day after placing sixth in the women's long jump, Alaina Diaz ran it back for a sixth place finish in the 200m. The junior matched her qualifying time from yesterday, closing out the 200m in 23.77 to add three more points to the women's score.
 
Paige Westra was the solo All-American in shot put. With a 15.52m (50-11) throw on her first attempt, Westra earned her first national honor with a seventh-place finish. Avery Lahti placed ninth with a 14.71m (48-3.25) throw.
 
After a 5000m appearance yesterday, Lauren Kiley raced in the 3000m and added points to her team's score. The senior crossed the finish line at 9:22.42 to find a spot on the podium and add three points to Grand Valley's score. 
 
Marcus Gelpi and Braden Prielipp added more individual points to GVSU's men's score first. With a season-best 2.20m (7-2.5) finish, Gelpi tied the title finsher's bar to place second, but only on the countback. Prielipp earned his first All-American honor with an eighth place mark at 2.11m (6-11).
 
Brooke Bowers was the last individual to find a podium for GVSU. The sophomore collected her third All-America honor with a 4.27m (14-0) mark to tie Pittsburg State's Cannon Booker for fourth, adding four and a half points to the Laker Lady's score.
 
The final podium of the day for GVSU went to the men's 4x400m relay squad. Desmond Demarcus Chapa, Trannon Aylor and Joshua Page combined for a 3:10.13 finish to add four points to GVSU's score.
 
Although the indoor season has come to an end, Grand Valley State's outdoor season opens this coming week. Athletes from all event groups will head to Marion, Ind. for the Indiana Wesleyan (IWU) Polar Bear Classic from Friday, March 20 through Saturday, March 21.
