GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Grand Valley State men's golf got their spring season off to a strong start, taking the victory at the Greenwood Invitational. The Lakers ended the tournament at -20, their fourth win of the 2025-26 season.
Bryce Wheeler earned the individual win, and
Andrew Gwilliams was on the All-Tournament team.
Results
The Lakers entered the day in second, jumping into the lead with a final round of 280 (-8). Flagler and Findlay were tied for second, each finishing at -17. In fourth was Barton at -4, one stroke up on fifth-place Anderson.
Bryce Wheeler picked up his second win of the season in dramatic fashion, taking it in a playoff. Wheeler carded a final round of 68 (-4) with six birdies to earn the victory.
Andrew Gwilliams ended in a tie for fifth with a score of seven under. He had two birdies in his final round of 70 (-2). Climbing up 17 spots on the final day was
Maverick Conaway, who shot a final round of 69 (-3) with three birdies, to finish in a tie for 17
th at -2. In a tie for 31
st was
Manuel Cue Vargas, finishing at even par. The senior made four birdies in his round of 73 (+1).
Charlie Cooley carded a 77 (+5) with two birdies to end in a tie for 71
st at +9.
