Marion, Ill. – The Grand Valley State softball team fell 7-1 to Lincoln Sunday (Mar. 1) afternoon in their final game at the Oasis Tournament. The Lakers drop to 5-5 on the season.
Lincoln opened the scoring in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly to left field. Lincoln would take a 5-0 lead in the third inning on a grand slam home run. The Blue Tigers would add two runs runs in the sixth inning. GVSU would score their lone run in the seventh inning on an RBI single by
Kylie Sinal that scored
Brynn Taliercio.
Faith Edwards batted 3-4 with a double, while
Elizabeth Wesoloskie hit 3-4 at the plate.
Brynn Taliercio notched a hit and scored a run, while
Kylie Sinal added an RBI single.
Kylie Swierkos got the start in the circle and pitched all seven innings recording five strikeouts.
GVSU will travel to Florida next week for their spring break trip. The Lakers will play 10 games in the sunshine state over six days. GVSU will face American International and Point Park on day one on Sunday, March 8
