ALLENDALE – The No. 19 Grand Valley State women's tennis defeated No. 16 Findlay 4-3 Friday (Feb. 6) afternoon at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club to begin the spring season. The Lakers improve to 3-0 on the season, while Findlay falls to 1-1.
Findlay claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Ipek Sakiroglu and
Lauren Burkett claimed a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Natasha Sengphrachanh and
Vale Mozas dropped a 3-6 decision at the top doubles position.
Rachel Sam and
Mischa Briggs fell 0-6 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action,
Natasha Sengphrachanh claimed a 6-3, 6-3 straight set win at the top singles position.
Mischa Briggs tallied a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
Vale Mozas rallied to post a 3-6, 7-6, 6-3 three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Lauren Burkett posted a 6-3, 6-4 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Anna Soteras dropped a 5-7, 5-7 decision at No. 5 singles.
Ipek Sakiroglu lost a 0-6, 3-6 decision at No. 3 singles.
The Laker women will be back in action next week when they host Tiffin on Friday, February 13
th at 12:00 PM and McKendree on Saturday, February 14
th at 5:00 PM. Both matches will be played at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club in Grandville.
