#19 Lakers Host Roosevelt and Parkside

ALLENDALE – The No. 19 Grand Valley State men's basketball team returns home for a pair of GLIAC games. The Lakers will host Roosevelt on Thursday, February 12th at 7:30 PM and Parkside on Saturday, February 14th at 3:00 PM at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.

GVSU is coming off a road split last week. The Lakers defeated Purdue Northwest 85-76 before falling to Wayne State 70-68 in Detroit. GVSU is now 18-4 on the season and in a three-way tie for first place in the GLIAC standings with an 11-3 mark. The Lakers are averaging just over 78 points per game shooting at a 43% clip from the field. GVSU is second in the conference grabbing over 39 rebounds and 13 offensive rebounds a game. The Lakers lead in the conference in free throws made per game (19.1), free throw attempts per game (26.7), and steals per game (9.8). 
 
Ethan Alderink leads the Lakers in scoring averaging just over 14 points per game on 48% shooting from the floor and 42% from three-point range. Alderink is second on the team with 5.6 rebounds and leads the team with 33 made three-pointers. Jalen Charity is scoring 13.4 points and grabbing five rebounds per game shooting 47% from the floor and 80% from the free throw line. Charity is 11 points away from becoming the 36th Laker to score 1,000 career points. Trevor Smith Jr. is averaging 12.6 points on 53.7% shooting from the field and 43.4% from downtown. Smith Jr. is second on the team with 72 assists and leads the country with a 3.79 assist/turnover ratio. Mason Docks ranks 10th in the country with a 3.00 assist/turnover ratio and leads the GLIAC with 54 steals while averaging 9.5 points. 
 
Roosevelt enters the week with a 4-17 overall record and a 3-11 GLIAC mark. GVSU defeated Roosevelt 87-69 in the first matchup this season in Chicago. The Lakers are last in the GLIAC in scoring with just over 68 points per game and tied for last giving up over 80 points a contest. Roosevelt is coming off a home win against Ferris State on Monday and come to Allendale having won their last two games. Jalen Windham leads Roosevelt in scoring averaging over 17 points a game on 42% shooting from the field. Hamahrie Bowers is scoring 15.5 points and 7.8 rebounds on 46% shooting from the field. Mikey West has notched 13.8 points and leads his team with 52 assists on 34% shooting from the field.
 
Parkside is 10-12 this season and 4-10 in the GLIAC. GVSU defeated the Rangers 77-67 in the first matchup between the two teams this season on the road in Kenosha. Parkside is scoring just under 75 points per game while shooting at a 43% clip from the field. Paxton Warden leads the Rangers scoring over 18 points on 43% shooting from the field and grabbing over four rebounds. Luka Mateski is averaging 16 points and 4.6 rebounds on 44% shooting from the field. Josiah Palmer is scoring 13.1 points and leads the Rangers with 49 made three-pointers shooting at a 40% clip from downtown.
