ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's volleyball team collected a pair of wins on Friday, sweeping both Hillsdale and Roosevelt. The two victories move GVSU to 15-3 overall and now 9-1 in league play.
In the afternoon match, GVSU hosted Hillsdale in a nonconference match. The Lakers took care of business in quick fashion, winning 25-17, 25-19, and 25-17. Grand Valley State controlled the entire match, never trailing by more than two points in any of the three sets. Five players had five or more kills, with
Brianna Stawski and
Finley Arp leading the way with eight apiece.
Gabby Orlet had 26 assists, while
Grace Busold led the team with 11 digs.
Kennedy Arp,
Sydney Stanfield, and
Kate Goudreau all served two aces.
Rounding out the day was the second meeting of the season with Roosvelt. Much like the earlier game, it was all GVSU in this one, winning 25-12, 25-15, and 25-18. GVSU hit .258, compared to Roosevelt's -.050, recording 10 blocks, and allowing only 17 RU kills. It was once again a balanced offense, with four players having six or more kills. Stawski and Goudreau both had eight kills, while Busold sent away seven. GVSU tied their season-high with 11 service aces, with
Lexi Armstrong and Goudreau each having three. Orlet had 26 assists and Armstrong recorded 11 digs.
