#19 GVSU Volleyball Battles Back To Defeat Parkside On Saturday Afternoon

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's volleyball team picked up a thrilling five-set victory over Parkside on Saturday afternoon. After trailing two sets to one, the Lakers battled back to get the win. GVSU is now 18-6 overall, and 10-2 in league play.

Grand Valley State won game one 25-15, before Parkside took the next two sets 19-25 and 12-25. GVSU responded with a 25-17 set four five, then won the final frame 15-12.

After leading 15-12 in the opening set, the Lakers went on a game-ending 10-3 run, capped off by a Paige Sanders and Finley Arp block. GVSU held a 15-8 lead in set number two, but the Rangers went on a 17-4 run to take the set and tie the match at one. In set three, it was all Parkside, as they never trailed to go up 2-1.

GVSU used a 5-0 run during the fourth set to go up 12-9, never relinquishing the lead the rest of the set to force an all-deciding fifth set. In that final frame, the two teams traded points, until the Lakers scored three of the final four points to put the match away.

Grace Busold led the Lakers with 14 kills, adding 15 digs. Paige Sanders had 13 kills and five blocks, while Brianna Stawski recorded 11 kills. Kennedy Arp totaled nine kills and five blocks, part of the Lakers' 11 total blocks. Gabby Orlet posted a 47-assist, 13-dig double-double, with Lexi Armstrong adding 24 digs.
