MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team fell 72-60 at Northern Michigan Saturday (Jan. 3) afternoon. The Lakers fall to 9-3 on the season and 2-2 in the GLIAC.
Ethan Alderink led the Lakers in scoring with 14 points and hauled down five rebounds.
Antaune Allen scored a season high 13 points on 5-9 shooting from the field.
Trevor Smith Jr. notched 11 points on 3-7 shooting from the field with five made three-pointers.
Shamus Thompson added nine points and grabbed a season high 12 rebounds with five offensive boards.
Dylan Keuhl led Northern Michigan with 25 points on 9-16 shooting from the field with four three-pointers and three rebounds. Cal Klesmit scored 21 points and five rebounds on 5-11 shooting from the field and 9-10 from the free throw line. Bennett Basich notched 12 points and six rebounds shooting 7-10 from the free throw line.
GVSU shot 34% from the field and Northern Michigan shot 40% from the floor. The Lakers outrebounded the Wildcats 38-36 and 11-8 in offensive rebounds. GVSU scored 26 points in the paint to the Wildcats 20 points.
The Lakers will return home for the first time in 2026 next week Thursday, January 8
th when they host Wayne State at 7:30 PM. GVSU will then host Purdue Northwest on Saturday, January 10
th at 3:00 PM. Both games will be streamed live on FloCollege and can be listened live on Thunder Country 107.3.
