ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's basketball team will head back on the road this week, first traveling to Ferris State Monday afternoon. The top two teams in the GLIAC will square off in Big Rapids at 4:00.

The Lakers last played Thursday night, hosting Davenport in the Fieldhouse. After a close first half, GVSU used a big second half to pull away with a 78-57 victory.
Paige VanStee put up another big game, posting 20 points, six rebounds, and three steals.
Nicole Kamin had 14 points and seven boards, while
Avery Lay tallied a career-high 12 points.
Entering Monday's game at 15-0 and 7-0 in league play, GVSU is alone atop the GLIAC standings, one game up on Wayne State and Ferris State. The Lakers lead the conference in both scoring offense (81.9 ppg) and scoring defense (52.9 ppg), ranking top 10 in the country in both categories. They continue to get scoring up and down their roster, ranking sixth in the country with 35.4 bench points per game. On the defensive side of the ball, the Lakers force over 25 turnovers per game, generating 11 steals a contest.
Ferris State is ranked 22
nd in the country at 13-3. They are 6-1 in league play, with their lone loss coming on the road at Wayne State on the opening weekend of GLIAC play. After losing a nonconference game right afterwards, the Bulldogs have won six straight games. Ferris State is led offensively by Kadyn Blanchard and Mia Riley, both of whom are averaging over 15 points a game. Mya Hiram and Emma Schierbeek also contribute double-digit points for the nation's 16
th best offense. The Bulldogs take almost 30 three-point attempts per game, making over 31% of them, with Schierbeek making over 40% of her 5.4 attempts a game. Ferris State has not lost at home this season, going a perfect 5-0, winning by 16.4 points in Big Rapids.
