GVSU is coming off a dominant 90-50 win over Davenport knocking down a season high 14 three-pointers. Five Lakers scored in double figures for the second time this season. The win over the Panthers marks their third straight win and five out of the last six games. The Lakers are 12-3 on the season and third place in the GLIAC standings with a 5-2 mark. GVSU is scoring over 79 points on the season shooting at a 44% clip. The Lakers rank first in the conference in steals per game (10.1) and are second in forced turnovers (15.1).
Trevor Smith Jr. led GVSU in scoring against Davenport with 15 points and dished out a career high nine assists. Smith Jr. is second on the team in scoring with 12.5 points on 55% shooting from the field.
Ethan Alderink leads the Lakers in scoring with 14.4 points on 48% shooting from the floor and 47% from three-point range.
Shamus Thompson posted his first career double-double last week against Purdue Northwest with 11 points and a career high 15 rebounds. Thompson was named the GLIAC defensive player of the week for the first time in his career last weekend.
Ferris State is 7-7 on the season and 4-3 in the GLIAC. The Bulldogs defeated Davenport 82-69 on Saturday after dropping two straight games against Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan. The Bulldogs are scoring over 77 points per game on 45% shooting from the field and 34% from behind the arc. Ferris State dishes out over 15 assists per game and commit 13 turnovers. Five Bulldogs are averaging double digits in scoring this season led by Tyler Hamilton with 12.9 points on 39% shooting from the field. Chang Hoth is averaging 11.7 points on 41% shooting from the field, while Mykel Bingham is putting up 11.6 points on an efficient 53% shooting from the field.
