ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team won their third straight game after dominating Davenport 90-50 Thursday (Jan. 15) evening at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers improve to 12-3 on the season and 5-2 in the GLIAC.
Trevor Smith Jr. led GVSU with 15 points and a career high nine assists while shooting 5-8 from the field with two three-pointers.
Ethan Alderink scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds with three three-pointers.
Charles Turner notched 12 points and four rebounds on three made shots from behind the arc.
David Wilkerson put up 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists with three triples.
Jalen Charity added 10 points and grabbed a game high eight rebounds.
GVSU knocked down 14 three-pointers shooting at 51% clip from three-point range. The Lakers shot 51% from the field and held Davenport to 375 shooting form the floor and 24% from downtown. GVSU dominated the glass, outrebounding the Panthers 49-23 and 13-2 in offensive rebounds. The Lakers dished out 19 assists and swiped 10 steals in the win. GVSU outscored Davenport 28-24 in the paint and 52-18 in bench points.
GVSU was lights out from three-point range in the first half knocking down eight three-pointers while shooting at a 52% clip from downtown. The Lakers shot 50% from the field in the first half to take a commanding 45-20 lead into the break.

David Wilkerson scored nine points on three made triples, while
Jalen Charity added six points and seven rebounds. After trailing 7-3 early in the half, the Lakers went on a 40-13 run to end the half.
In the second half, GVSU hit two more three-pointers in the first two possessions from
Mason Docks and
Ethan Alderink to take a 53-22 lead. The Lakers would go on a 29-14 run in the first 10 minutes of the second half to take a commanding 40-point lead at 74-34. GVSU would cruise to the win in the final 10 minutes of play to claim the 90-50 win.
