ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Grand Valley State softball team dropped a pair of games at the GLIAC Tournament to Saginaw Valley State and Parkside Saturday. The Lakers finish the season with a 27-26 record.
Game One vs Saginaw Valley State – L, 1-0 (8-Innings)
GVSU faced Saginaw Valley State in the winner's bracket to start off the day. Both teams were held scoreless through seven innings with five combined hits between the two teams. Saginaw Valley State walked it off in the bottom of the eighth inning off a bunt that resulted in a Laker error.
Faith Edwards and
Morgan Spicer each had a hit for GVSU.
Karli Dorr got the start in the circle and allowed just one run (zero earned) off four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Game Two vs Parkside – L, 3-0
The Lakers had to face Parkside in an elimination game to close out the day. Parkside opened the scoring in the top of the first inning off an infield single between third base and shortstop. The Rangers added a run in the fifth inning a sacrifice fly and one run in the seventh inning on an RBI single.
Madelynn Pope batted 2-3 while
Grace Usher hit 2-4.
Faith Edwards,
Elizabeth Wesoloski, and
Morgan Spicer each added a hit.
Nevaeh Ingram got the start in the circle and tossed all seven innings allowing three runs off six hits with one strikeout.
