MARQUETTE, Mich.- The Grand Valley State men's basketball team is set to begin postseason play in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals on the road against Northern Michigan Wednesday (March 4) night. Tipoff is set for 7:30 PM in Marquette, Michigan.

GVSU finished the regular season in fifth place in the GLIAC standings with a 12-8 conference mark and 16-12 overall record. The Lakers closed out the regular season with a dominant 106-51 win over Roosevelt led by a career high 28 point and 12 rebound double-double by
William Dunn. The Lakers are entering postseason play having won 10 out of their last 14 games including a three-game winning streak to end the season.Â

Northern Michigan won both matchups against GVSU this season. This will be the sixth time the two programs will face each other in the GLIAC tournament. GVSU leads the series in the GLIAC tournament 4-1 with the most recent matchup coming last season in the semifinals where GVSU defeated Northern Michigan 92-77 in Marquette.Â

Northern Michigan finished in fourth place in the GLIAC standings with a 13-7 record and 19-9 overall record. The Wildcats are also heading into the quarterfinal matchup on a three-game winning streak and have won seven out of their last 10 games. Northern Michigan averages 74 points per game on 44% shooting from the field. Dylan Kuehl leads the Wildcats scoring 16.6 points a game and 6/9 rebounds.Â
