KESNOSHA, Wis. – The Grand Valley State softball team fell in a doubleheader at Parkside Saturday (March 22) afternoon. The Lakers fall to 11-15 on the season after losing game one 5-3, and 9-3 in game two.
Game One, L, 5-3
In game one, Parkside took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning off a solo home run to left field. GVSU answered in the second inning to tie the game at one with an RBI double to center field by
Morgan Spicer to score
Nevaeh Ingram. Parkside answered with a two-run inning in the third off back-to-back home runs to make it 3-1. The Rangers would add to their lead in the fifth inning on a two-run home run to make it 5-1.
In the sixth inning, GVSU scored two runs to make it a 5-3 deficit.
Karli Dorr hit a sacrifice flyout to right field to score
Faith Edwards. Later in the inning,
Madelynn Pope flied out to right field to score
Elizabeth Wesoloski.
Parkside would hang on for the 5-3 win.
Grace Usher hit 2-2 with a double, while
Morgan Spicer added a hit with a run scored.
Faith Edwards and
Elizabeth Wesoloski each added a hit, and a run scored.
Nevaeh Ingram got the start in the circle and suffered the loss after tossing all six innings allowing five runs off six hits with four strikeouts.
Game Two, L, 9-3
In game two, Parkside got the scoring started with a three-run home run to left field to take an early 3-0 lead in the second inning. Parkside would add to the lead in third inning with an RBI double to center field and a Laker error to make it 5-0 after three innings. In the fourth inning, Parkside hit a solo home run to make it 6-0.
GVSU got on the scoreboard in the fifth inning off a
Carsyn Segorski solo home run to left field. Parkside would answer with a two-RBI double to center field to make it 8-1 Parkside in the fifth inning GVSU responded with a solo home run by
Karli Dorr in the sixth inning, but Parkside responded with a solo home run in the seventh to make it 9-2. GVSU would get two runs in the seventh off a
Faith Edwards two-RBI double down the right field line to make it 9-3.
Faith Edwards went 2-4 with a double and run scored.
Karli Dorr and
Carsyn Segorski each launched a home run.
Eliana Eiland,
Madelynn Pope, and
Elizabeth Wesoloski each added a hit.
GVSU will open their home schedule next week Wednesday (March 26) when they host Purdue Northwest in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 PM. Both games will be streamed live on FloSports.
