ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team opened up their home schedule with a 5-2 win over Tiffin Friday (Feb. 7) afternoon. The Lakers improve to 2-0 on the season.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Rachel Sam and
Estefania Hernandez claimed a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Ipek Sakiroglu and
Kalomoira Rallie earned a hard fought 7-6 win at No. 3 doubles.
Neus Ramos and
Vale Mozas dropped a tough 3-6 decision at the top doubles position.
On the singles side,
Neus Ramos earned a hard fought 4-6, 6-0, 7-5 three-set win at the top singles position.
Estefania Hernandez claimed a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 three-set win at No. 4 singles.
Ipek Sakiroglu tallied a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Kalomoira Ralli added a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Vale Mozas dropped a tough 2-6, 2-6 decision at No. 2 singles.
Anna Soteras lost a tough 2-6, 5-7 decision at No. 3 singles.
The Lakers will close out the weekend homestand on Saturday (Feb. 8) when they host Findlay. First serve is set for 5:00 PM at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club.
