ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team returns home for a pair of big GLIAC games against Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State. The Lakers will host Wayne State on Thursday (Feb. 20) at 8:00 PM and Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Feb. 22) afternoon at 3:00 PM.

GVSU is coming off an 88-81 win on the road against Purdue Northwest and an 80-72 loss at Parkside. The Lakers are now 13-11 on the season and are in sixth place in the GLIAC standings with a 9-7 conference mark.
Kaden Brown leads GVSU in scoring averaging 13.9 points on 40% shooting from the field and 40% shooting from three-point range. Brown leads the team and ranks fourth in the GLIAC with 67 made three-pointers on the season.
William Dunn is averaging 11.3 points and six rebounds shooting 43% from the field.
Jalen Charity scored a career high 20 points last game at Parkside and is averaging 11 points shooting 49% from the field.
GVSU defeated Wayne State on the road in the opening weekend of conference play back in December. The Lakers won a closely contested 65-63 game led by 14 points from
Trevon Gunter. GVSU shot 50% from three and swiped 11 steals. The Lakers are 54-38 all-time against the Warriors.
Wayne State is 12-12 on the season and are one game behind GVSU in the GLIAC standings with an 8-8 conference record. The Warriors split last weekend defeating Saginaw Valley State on the road before losing to Roosevelt on the road. Wayne State is averaging 74 points a game shooting 45% from the field. Rob Lee Jr. leads Wayne State and ranks seventh in the GLIAC scoring 16.3 points on 47% shooting from the field and 40% from three.
GVSU defeated Saginaw Valley State in the first meeting this season in the GLIAC opener on the road in December. The Lakers outscored the Cardinals by 11 points in the second half to claim an 81-68 win.
William Dunn led all scorers with 22 points and nine rebounds on 9-15 shooting. GVSU dominated the glass outrebounding SVSU 52-33 with 16 offensive rebounds.
Saginaw Valley State is trying to hold onto the last spot in the GLIAC Tournament. The Cardinals are 9-15 on the season and 5-11 in conference play. SVSU is scoring 75 points on 44% shooting from the field. Toodles Seal leads the Cardinals in scoring with 16.6 points and 5.4 rebounds on 48.8% shooting from the field. Freddie McIntosh is scoring 15.5 points on 37% shooting from the field.
