The Lakers are coming off a 1-1 weekend, falling at home in five sets to Wayne State, then bouncing back to sweep Purdue Northwest on Saturday. Kennedy Arp had a strong weekend for the Lakers, totaling 22 kills over the two matches, tying her career-high with 12 at Purdue Northwest. Caroline Baker and Meghan O'Sullivan both had over 35 assists the two matches and Olivia Behen had over 30 digs. GVSU had 16 blocks on the weekend, with 10 coming in the sweep of PNW. At 10-3 overall and 5-1 in GLIAC play, the Lakers are one of two teams in the league with one conference loss, tied with Ferris State who they defeated earlier this season.

Roosevelt has struggled to begin the season, going 1-14 overall and 0-6 in league play. Their lone win came on the opening weekend of the season, as they took down Kentucky Wesleyan. They have won just a single set in league play, taking one from Purdue Northwest, but losing their other 18. The Lakers are led by Alessia Isgro's 105 kills, with two others over 75. RU runs a two-setter system, with Zoe Hutchinson and Isa Grana both dishing out over 100 assists this season. GVSU won both matches last season, sweeping Roosevelt at home, then taking them down in four sets on the road.

After starting the season 9-0, the Rangers have hit a rough patch, losing three of their previous four, all in conference play. Despite the losses, the Rangers still lead the GLIAC in both points per set, 17.43, and assists per set at 12.62. They are second in digs per set and opponent aces per set, in large part due to reigning Defensive Player of the Year Natalie Harris leading the league in digs, recording 5.78 per set. On the offensive side, Ava Irvin leads the team with 179 kills, second in the league, with Sam Fisch right behind her at 173 kills. The Lakers took the lone matchup last season, winning in four sets, as part of a current nine-match winning streak.
