GVSU Men's Wrestling Announces 2025-26 Schedule

First-year head coach R.J. Boudro announced the 2025-26 men's wrestling schedule that highlights several duals against the top Division II teams in the country. The Lakers are set to embark on their third year as a program after a 32-year hiatus as a varsity sport. 
 
GVSU will open at the Michigan State Open Saturday, Nov. 8 in East Lansing, followed by the Findlay Open on Saturday, Nov. 15.
 
The Lakers will then host the Laker Duals on Friday, Nov. 21 that will feature the top programs in the country. GVSU will open versus Findlay at 10 am, followed by a matchup versus a top five team in St. Cloud State at 12 noon and the finale against a top 10 team in Glenville State. 
 
The Jim Koch Open will take place Saturday, Dec. 6 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, followed by the top in season team tournament in the country December 13 and 14, the Midwest Classic, hosted by the University of Indianapolis. The Lakers will host Olivet University on Thursday, Dec. 18 to close out the 2025 portion of the schedule. 
 
GVSU will open 2026 at the National Wrestling Coaches Association Duals January 9 and 10, featuring the top 20 schools in the country that will compete in team duals. Grand Valley State will stay on the road for a dual at national power Central Oklahoma on Thursday, Jan. 16. The Lakers will send a group of wrestlers to compete at the Alma Open on Sunday, Jan. 18 and close out the home portion of the schedule with Senior Night on Friday, Jan. 30 versus Muskegon Community College. 
 
The Greyhound Duals will take place at the University of Indianapolis on Feb. 7 and 8, before the regular season finale at Davenport Sunday, Feb. 15. 
 
The NCAA Super Region 3 tourney will take place Saturday, Feb. 28 at Findlay, and the top three finishers will advance to the NCAA DII National Championship tournament that will be held Mar. 13 and 14 in Sioux Falls, SD. 
 
"We have a challenging schedule for our squad, but we have a group of experienced wrestlers are ready to compete," said Boudro. "I love how this team competes in the wrestling room and I know they want to be challenged on the mat to get ready for the NCAA Championships," added Bourdro.
