Lakers Set for Pair of Top 10 Road Games

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team is set begin a stretch of four consecutive road games this weekend with two games against teams ranked top 10 in the country. The Lakers will travel to face #5 Ferris State on Thursday (Jan. 9) at 7:30 PM and will then travel to #10 Lake Superior State on Saturday (Jan. 11) at 7:00 PM.

GVSU is 6-6 on the season and 2-2 in the GLIAC. The Lakers fell to Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan last weekend to start the 2025 calendar year. The Lakers are averaging 78.1 points a game which ranks 5th in the GLIAC. GVSU is shooting 46% from the field and 38.6% from three which ranks 19th best in the country. The Lakers are third in the GLIAC hauling in 38.9 rebounds a game and 11.1 offensive rebounds a game. GVSU is second with 3.58 blocks and 8th with 6.33 steals. 
 
Kaden Brown leads GVSU in scoring averaging 13.7 points shooting 42% from the field and 41% from three. Brown scored 21 points last game against Northern Michigan and leads the Lakers with 32 made three-pointers. William Dun is averaging 12.3 points and leads GVSU with 5.7 rebounds a game. Dunn is shooting 46% from the field and 30% from three. Jalen Charity has added 10.9 points on an efficient 56% shooting from the field and 41% shooting from three. Mason Docks leads the GLIAC averaging 4.4 assists and a 4.1 assist/turnover ratio.
 
Ferris State enters the weekend ranked fifth in the NABC DII Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs are 14-1 and have won 14 straight games following their season opening loss. Ferris State ranks first in the GLIAC and 16thnationally averaging 88.9 points per game. The Bulldogs are first in the GLIAC and 10th nationally shooting 50.9% from the field and are fifth nationally shooting 40.9% from behind the arc. 
 
Ethan Erickson leads the Bulldogs and ranks third in the GLIAC in scoring averaging 17.7 points on 46% shooting from the field and 43% shooting from three. Erickson has scored at least 20 points in seven games this season including 29 points in a win at Cedarville. Tyler Hamilton and Nathan Claerbaut are each averaging 10.3 points. Hamilton is shooting 42% from the field and has dished out 2.9 assists. Claerbaut leads the Bulldogs averaging 7.2 rebounds and 2.8 blocks.
 
Lake Superior State enters the weekend ranked 10th in the NABC DII Coaches Poll. LSSU is 
12-2 on the season and 3-1 in the GLIAC. Lake Superior State is second in the GLIAC scoring 79.9 points and allowing just 66.6 points a game. LSSU is shooting 44% from the field and 35% from three. LSSU leads the GLIAC pulling down 41.7 rebounds and 14.6 offensive rebounds.
 
Tyson Edmondson is fifth in the GLIAC in scoring averaging 16.6 points on 46% shooting from the field and 38% from three. Edmondson has scored in double figures in 12 of the 14 games including 33 points in a win against Indianapolis. Kingsley Perkins has notched 12.6 points on 53% shooting from the field and has brought down 6.8 rebounds. Adam Harakow is scoring 10.9 points on 41% shooting. Hunter Soper has added 10.1 points and 7.3 rebounds on 45% shooting.
