Women's Basketball Travels To Chicago To Play Roosevelt

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU women's basketball team readies to play their fourth game of a four-game road trip, heading down to Chicago to play GLIAC newcomer Roosevelt. The two Lakers are set to tip off Monday night at 6:30 Eastern.

GVSU has won six straight, with five coming since the start of the new year. They defeated Davenport 110-51 on Thursday, claiming the 1,000th win in program history. Six Lakers contributed double-figures in the win, led by MacKenzie Bisballe's career-high 21 points, hitting 9-12 from the field. Paige Vanstee added her second consecutive double-double, with 16 points and 10 boards, with Ellie Droste having 15 points and five assists. Rylie Bisballe, Kathryn Schmidt, and Nicole Kamin also scored double digits. GVSU had 33 assists, one off tying the team record, and they outrebounded the Panthers 42-25. The number one team in the country is 17-1 overall and atop the GLIAC standings at a perfect 7-0.
 
In their first year as a member of the GLIAC, Roosevelt is 5-8, winning three of their past five games to move to 3-4 in league play. They also just dominated Davenport, winning 87-48. RU's top three scorers (Luka Malinka, Marie Outlay, and Jayla Turchin) on the season, combined for 48 points in Saturday's victory, and are averaging 36.5 ppg this season. The Lakers have struggled shooting the ball this season, recording a 34.5% clip from the field and 25.5 from three, both of which are lowest in the GLIAC. However, Roosevelt has been shooting better since the new year, totaling four of their six best field goal percentage since the calendar flipped. This will be the first ever matchup between the two schools
