The Swim and Dive Team Swept The Boards At Davenport University

KENTWOOD, Mich.-  The Lakers dominated the Panthers in a head-to-head meet at the Kentwood Aquatics Center. The GVSU men's and women's teams swept the first-place spots, only coming up short in one event.

The men defeated the Panthers 243.5 to 56.5. 

Raul Briceno got off to a strong start in the men's 1000 yard freestyle, winning first place with a time of 9:18.13. Anton Rauch and Luis Bosch finished in second and third. Briceno continued and secured first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:32.59. 

Carysn Christoffel claimed first place in the men's 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.28. Yassen Eltarnaisy finished second in 1:43.09. Christoffel also took third in the 50-yard freestyle and followed up with a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 46.43.
Thomas Zoldowski and Aaron Dies took first and second for the Lakers in the 100 yard backstroke. 

Andrew Goh and Esteban Nunez Del Prado finished first and second, in the 100 yard breaststroke with times of 54.99 and 55.32. Goh also took first in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:03.70, while Nunez Del Prado claimed first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 48.98. Nunez Del Prado also grabbed first in the 200 yard IM with a time of 1:51.63. 

Matt Bosch took first place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 20.49, followed by Austin Millard, who finished second. Evan Scotto DiVetta claimed first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 44.79.

The Lakers won the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:17.82. The team, consisting of Aaron Dies, Andrew Goh, Esteban Nunez Del Prado, and Matt Bosch, took first place.

Scotto DiVetta, Christoffel, Millard, and Bosch touched the wall at 3:01.07 in the 400 free relay to take first. 

Mathew Blommel scored a 313.13 to take first place in the men's 3 mtr. Dive. Carter Wood grabbed second place with a score of 305.18. Wood placed first in the 1 mtr. With a score of 302.85. 

The women had an impressive afternoon beating Davenport 257 to 43.

Linda Frick claimed first place for the Lakers in the women's 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:26.25, followed closely by Tomaselli and Gallagher in second and third.

Lucy Hedley took the win in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.70, followed by Katie O'Connell in second, Angelica Angilletta in third, and Annabelle Williams in fourth. Hedley also finished first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.14. In the 500 yard freestyle, O'Connell touched the wall at 5:01.03.

Vittoria Proietti took first place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 56.29. Sara Alvarez finished the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:03.19. She took first place in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:05.25.

Kelly Shortall took first in the 200 yard fly with a time of 2:06.69 and four other Lakers finished right behind her. Stacy Nation grabbed first in the 100 fly with a time of 57.74. 

The women's 400 yard medley relay finished first with a time of 3:43.95. Members of this event were Vittoria Proietti, Sara Alvarez, Alysa Wager, and Lucy Hedley.  The GVSU women's 400 yard relay snagged first with a time of 3:24.98. 

Maddie Kooistra scored a 274.88 to take first place in the women's 1 mtr. Dive. Polasek and Kutsche took second and third. Kooistra also took first place in the 3 mtr. with a score of 260.40.
