WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The No. 2 Grand Valley State women's soccer team claimed a big 2-1 road win at No. 4 Central Missouri Sunday (Sept. 15) afternoon. The Lakers improve to 3-0-1 on the season.
GVSU opened up the scoring in the 20
th minute off the foot of
Emma Chudik. Chudik made a great move in the box and kicked it into the bottom right corner of the goal with her left foot for her second goal of the season.
In the second half,
Alli French doubled the lead in the 78
th minute for her second goal of the season. French made a move past the defender on the right side and kicked it to the top left of the goal with the right foot. Central Missouri got on the board in the 82
nd minute off a penalty kick but the Lakers would hang on for the win.
Alli French led the Lakers with the game-winning goal on three shots with two on goal.
Emma Chudik notched her second goal of the season off one shot, while
Abby Winn added a shot on goal.
Isabel Imes got the start in goal and made three saves.
Cailynn Junk appeared in 28 minutes in goal and stopped four shots in the win.
The Lakers will begin GLIAC play on the road next week when they travel to face Northern Michigan on Friday (Sept. 20) at 3:00 PM and Michigan Tech on Sunday (Sept. 22) at 12:00 PM.
