GVSU Coaches' Corner With Scott Wooster
• #3 Grand Valley State will hit the road for a non-conference matchup at #22 Colorado State-Pueblo. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. (ET) Saturday (Sept. 14). CSU-Pueblo is 2-0, having won nine consecutive games, and coming off a 40-23 over #21 UT-Permian Basin. The Lakers are coming off a 58-0 victory over Central State in the 2024 season opener.
NATIONS LEADING WINNING %
• Grand Valley State is the winningest FBS, FCS and Division II program in the country, boasting a record of 443-151-3 (.744) in 52 years of playing football. In addition, GVSU is also the winningest GLIAC program all-time with a 315-77-3 mark (.800).
NCAA ATTENDANCE LEADERS
• GVSU opened the 2024 campaign with a season-opening crowd of 13,678. The Lakers the nation in total attendance (100,882) and average per game (12,610) in eight home dates in 2023. GVSU has led the nation for 12 consecutive years.

• Grand Valley State has won 10 or more games 19 times in the 52-year history of the program, including 17 times since 2001.
• The 58 points scored tied the program record for points scored in a season-opening game (58-16 at St. Joseph's College in 1990) and the 58-point margin broke the previous record of 56 (56-0 vs. Minnesota Crookston in 2001) for margin of victory in a season-opening game.
• Last Meeting - The Lakers claimed a wild 57-49 double overtime victory in 2023. GVSU jumped out to a 21-0 lead, but the Thunderwolves stormed back. 28 points were scored in the final two minutes of the second quarter. CSU-Pueblo returned a blocked field with 2:40 left, followed by a
Kyle Nott 27-yard TD reception with 2:04 left. CSUP scored on a quick drive and
Kellen Reed returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a TD. CSUP tied the game at 42-42 on the last play of regulation and took a 49-42 lead in overtime. QB

Tariq Reid scored on a 25-yard run to give the Lakers a 57-49 lead. The GVSU defense was able to get a stop on CSU-Pueblo's overtime possession to secure the win.

• Grand Valley State shutout Central State in the season-opening game (58-0), marking the first time in Laker football history that GVSU has shutout opponents in back-to-back games regular season games at Lubbers Stadium (Davenport 30-0, 2023).
• GVSU rushed for 546 yards in the season-opening game, three yards shy of the single-game, school record (549/1974 Findlay).
• The Lakers rushed for seven touchdowns vs. Central State, the most since rushing for seven vs. Notre Dame College in 2012.
• Three running backs eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark in the same game (Central State) for the first time in school history. The previous record was two that reached the 100-yard rushing mark in 2014 (Chris Robinson 126/Terrel Dorsey 109) vs. Tiffin.

• GVSU tallied 667 yards of total offense (546 rushing-121 passing) vs. Central State, the eighth-best, single-game total all-time. The Lakers notched 668 yards of total offense in 2023 vs. Kentucky State.
• The Laker defense limited Central State to 60 rushing yards, 35 passing yards, 95 total yards and six first downs.
