ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State track and field program are set to take over the state of California this weekend starting on Wednesday, April 10
th as they will compete in four meets over the span of the next four days.
The Lakers' schedule will consist of the Cal St. L.A. Twilight Open beginning on Wednesday, April 10
th through the 11
th, the Pacific Coast Invite on April 11
th, the Bryan Clay Invite on April 11
th through the 13
th and the Beach Invitational on April 12
th through the 13
th.

Recently, the men's track and field team was ranked No.1 in the Nation by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday. The men's crew has two National leaders,
Jaivon Harrison (high jump) and
Myles Kerner (shot put) as well as six National Top-5 marks and 11 National Top-10 marks.
The women's team was ranked No.3 in the Nation, as they have one National Leader,
Erika Beistle (discus), eight Top 5 marks and 12 Top 10 marks.
The Grand Valley State throws team will kick off the long weekend starting in Los Angeles, CA at the two-day meet, the Cal St. L.A. Twilight Open.
The men's javelin will be the first event to open up the Cal. St L.A. Twilight Open beginning at 12:30 p.m. (ET).
Bobby Maxwell will be the only Laker taking on the javelin throw. Currently, Maxwell ranks 20
th in the Top 25 in Division II with a distance of 62.06m.
The men's and women's hammer throw will both begin at 2:30 p.m. (ET), with four Lakers competing, two men and two women.
Shane Byrne and
Matt Thomas will be competing for Grand Valley State in the men's hammer throw. Byrne and Thomas rank back-to-back on the Division II Top 25 list, claiming 13
th and 14
th.
Shelby Ulven and
Alaina Omonode will be the two Lakers taking on the women's hammer throw. Both Lakers rank within the Top 5 in Division II, Ulven in second with a throw of 58.71m and Omonode in fourth with a distance of 56.90m.
Day two (April 11
th) of the Cal St. L.A. Twilight Open will consist of the Lakers' jumps crew. The men's and women's long jump will begin at 4:00 p.m. (ET), with the women's high jump ending the night at 8:30 p.m. (ET).
Luke Jelderks and
Caleb Taylor will take on the men's long jump while
Alaina Diaz represent on the women's side.
Sydney Cangilla and
Joslyn Bentz will be taking on the women's high jump.
