ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State Lakers are set to host the 2024 Outdoor GLIAC Track and Field Championships beginning on Wednesday, May 1
st through Friday, May 3
rd. Day one of the GLIAC Championships will consist of the multi-events, beginning with the men's decathlon 100m at 1:30 p.m.
Day two of the Championships will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the remaining multi-events followed by the prelim running and field events at 2:30 p.m. The final day will start at 10:00 a.m. with four field events followed by the final running events at 11:10 p.m.

Both the Lakers' men's and women's squad are ranked first in the GLIAC as they head into the Conference Championships this week. Additionally, the men are ranked second in Division II, while the women rank fourth.
The Grand Valley State women's program is looking to claim their 24
th consecutive GLIAC Outdoor Championship title, while the men are hoping to earn their sixth consecutive, and 17
th total GLIAC title.
In the men's decathlon, the Lakers will have two athletes competing on day one and day two,
Mason Floria and
Ian Trall. Floria returns to the 2024 GLIAC Championships as they defending Champion, after recording a personal-best of 5748 points in 2023. Additionally, Floria set five new personal bests in the decathlon last year.
Trall finished in fourth place at the 2023 Outdoor GLIAC Championships, recording an overall total of 5120 points and two new personal bests. In the 2024 outdoor season, Trall recorded three new personal bests in the high jump (1.85m), pole vault (3.35m) and discus (24.55m).
On the women's side, freshman
Kennedy Gardner will be competing at her first GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the heptathlon beginning at 2:00 p.m. At the GLIAC Indoor Championships, Gardner finished in sixth place in the pentathlon with a total of 2915 points and two new personal bests. This season, Gardner recorded four new personal bests in the 200m (27.36), javelin (14.76m), 100m hurdles (16.05) and the shot put (8.61m).
