ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State track and field team concluded their annual Al Owens Classic on Saturday, April 20
th, as they completed the remainder of the field events.
In the men's pole vault, the Lakers finished 1-4 led by
Wyatt Alwine. Alwine took home first place clearing a height of 4.93m, followed by
Colton Emeott at a height of 4.78m,
Jacob Krutsch with a height of 4.63m and
David Conrad tied for fourth clearing a height of 4.48m.
On the women's side,
Miranda Firari tied for first place clearing a height of 3.85m.
Lily Renfrew finished in third place with a height of 3.70m and
Kendyl Hahlen in fourth at a height of 3.55m.
In the men's triple jump,
Harold Gee finished in second place with a distance of 12.20m.
Preston Nichols and
Will Gaston finished back-to-back in the men's javelin earning first and second place for Grand Valley. Nichols finished in first place with a throw of 50.83m and Gaston in second recording a throw of 48.48m.
In the women's hammer throw invite,
Alaina Omonode claimed first place with a throw of 55.23m followed by
Shelby Ulven in second with a distance of 54.55m. For the men,
Shane Byrne finished in first place recording a throw of 55.92m.
