ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU women's basketball season came to a close tonight in the Midwest Regional Championship game. The Lakers fell 49-46 to Ferris State, to finish their season at 31-3.
The Bulldogs got out to a 6-2 lead, but GVSU battled back to get within one point at 12-11 to close the opening quarter.
GVSU continued that run, starting the second quarter on a 7-0 run, started by a triple from
Hadley Miller. From there it was all FSU, as they ended the quarter on a 13-3 run to lead 25-21 at the break.
The Bulldogs then began the second half on an 10-3 run to build their lead up to 11 at 35-24. The Lakers responded by closing out the quarter on a 10-1 run to only trail 36-34 at the end of three.
The entire fourth quarter, both teams were trading baskets, as Ferris could only get their lead up to five points, and the Lakers could only cut their deficit to one. On the final possession, GVSU got a look at a game-tying three, but it rimmed out and the Bulldogs held on.
Rylie Bisballe led the way with 16 points and six rebounds.

Paige Vanstee each tallied eight points and four rebounds.
